Wow - how about East Bay! I dont know anything about this team, except that they keep puting the beat down on all the "good" teams. How are they doing it? Has anyone seen them play? Do they have any standout out players, or are they just riding an unbeleivable luckystreak? I might just make a trip up to Melbourne to watch them tackle the bulldogs.

Ya I don't know how East Bay made it as far as they did, but they did no "tackling" of the bulldogs. Melbourne won 8-0 in dominating fashion. East Bay put the ball in Melbourne's half at most 5 times. Melbourne scored 4 fantastic goals with shots coming outside of the 18, there really wasn't much East Bay could do to stop them, Melbourne was just too much for them to handle. Congrats to East Bay for making it as far as they did, but whatever they were doing to get as far as they did ended tonight... Also Melbourne looks very, very strong and it is going to take a lot just to stop there attack, least of all go score one on them. They seem to have what it takes to win it all and some.

East Bay was nothing but LUCKY to make it as far as they did. No talent, no stand out players. Hope you didn't waste your time going to watch them get their butts kicked.

As a tried and true Lady Bulldog fan I was trolling for one of the prideful East Bay supporters to give me a free scouting report on their team. Alas, I had no takers. No need, I made the short drive accross the causeway to watch one sided, mediaval a$$ whiping the Lady Bulldogs put on them... The girls even ended it up early for me courtesy of a mercy rule with over 12 minutes left. Yawn - I dont know who those girls were, but it had to be a long drive back to Tampa.

Now Oveido on the other hand -- they are no joke and will be a solid test for Mel High.

Best of luck ladies!

East Bay team and fans were just fine coming home. Sorry to disappoint you. They knew from about 3-4 minutes into the game that they were outmatched to a man. No worries though. They could have chosen to play a pack the back type defense and try to keep the score lower . But why? To lose 3 or 4 to nothing. So instead they continued to attempt to push forward. To no avail as every attempt they made was quickly controlled by this awesome Melbourne team.

So yes, they were disappointed they lost. But they know that even their best would not have been good enough. They know they had an awesome season, and are proud of their accomplishments. They started the season having to fill spots from the 5 starting seniors that graduated last year. They ended up with mostly freshmen and sophomore starters. They have only 1 senior playing club ball right now, I think. No National or Regional ODP players like some of their competitors had. By the way Melbourne's National player, is outstanding. Of course East Bay's young inexperienced defense may have helped her look more impressive.

Anyway , Mel high - Eb game was like pros - vs rec team. But East Bay is /was a good 'high school' team. Take it for what that's worth. Their 2 losses prior to Region finals were the first game of season(2-1) against a good Freedom team * that took Newsome to Pks in districts), and to Durant (1-0) in a game where the coach benched 4 starters most of the game for missing practice the day before. They matched up well with Newsome in their 1-1 tie. Newsome is a team everyone seems to agree is good. District finals against Durant went to Pks, with EB's best kickers on the bench from injury and illness. So they lost. Sickles game was mostly ugly both ways. East Bay just pulled it together when it counted. As for Alonso game, yes, they had one maybe 2 good players on the field, TM, and another girl. But their defense was extremely weak. Once EB realized that, there was no contest. It even got to the point where the EB coach let her defenders go up to forward and midfield, played her younger players, I think many bench players got in. At that point the 2nd goal was given up. Otherwise , not close. I suspect calls may have looked offside because their defense is slow, and misplayed balls or were poorly positioned.

East Bay will lose 4 seniors this year. Next year may be tougher, but who knows with the new districts. They have a talented group of freshmen and sophomores, as well as a pretty good junior forward and keeper. Future looks bright.

Congrats to Melbourne! Trul y the best team I have seen in a long time.

Thanks for the reply. No need to apologize, though. You were very proud of your team, and honestly , like most others, knew nothing about East Bay until this game. We play in the same part of Hillsborough county as other more well known teams, like Newsome and Bloomingdale. For those that play club soccer, Eb players play on many of the same club teams as players from those schools. So depending on the year ( with graduations and all) we've been pretty good these last 4 years. Just fly under the radar most of the time. Next year will be interesting, as Newsome graduates something like 10 or 11 seniors, with many being on the field as starters for 3-4y years. Major change for them. Don't know much about the other teams in the new district. But I think Freedom only loses a senior or two also. So the new district should bring interesting competition.

Congratulations on the State Championship, very well deserved!
