2a boys - teams remaining in chase for state championship

6a - #1 vs #3 --- #3 wins 2-0 over #1
5a - #4 vs #12 -- #12 wins 2-1 over #4
4a - #1 vs #3 --- #3 wins 1-0 (2ot) over #1
3a - #1 vs #6 --- #6 wins 2-1 over #1
2a - #1 vs #11 -- #1 wins 4-0 over #11

How the Regional Seeds did: (each region had 8 teams, only 1 team made the Final 4. This will tell us which seed made it from each region.)
#1: 12, #2: 5, #3: 1, #4: 1, #5: 1, #6: 0, #7: 0, #8: 0

Of the 20 boys teams that DownSouth's system chose before the district tournaments (out of 484 teams) to make it to the Final 4, 12 teams actually did. (60.0%)

District Tourneys: higher rated team's record (240-62) = (79.5% correct).
1st Rd of Regionals -- (59-15) = (79.7% correct)
2nd Rd of Regionals -- (24-13) = (64.9% correct)
3rd Rd of Regionals -- (16-2) = (88.9% correct)
Final 4 -- (8-5) = (61.5 % correct).

2009 Overall Playoff Results: (347-97) = (78.2% correct)
2008 Overall Playoff Results: (342-91) = (79.0% correct)

Westminster has great talent and they are fairly young. A team that has the potential to put a great run together, but will need to play consistent soccer.

Game was "replayed" last night @ Holy Trinity with Holy Trinity defeating Ft. Meade 4-2.

As of last night it had not been determined if the Regional Final Match is to be played today or tomorrow, nor where the game would be played at (Orangewood or Holy Trinity). Hopefully we'll find out early today when/where the Regional Final is to be played.

Westminster played amazing. Great scheme to play defensively and try to counter. While American Heritage was the more talented team, Westminster wanted to win more. Westminster's Goalie is one of the best I have seen. One of WEstminsters best players was double yellowed 10 minutes into the second half. A really suck call for a ref to make in a regional championship game, despite being outplayed Westminster had an opportunity to win with the last kicker, but the AH goalie made a great save. All in all a great game with two great teams

Anyone have any thoughts on the 2A semi-final matches on Wednesday?

I'm expecting the St. Stephen's/American Heritage game to be a very close one. I realize their rankings might indicate otherwise, but this could be another match that heads in to OT or even PK's.

I am the coach at Westminster, and we played American Heritage in the regional finals, going to 8 PKs...very individually talented team. If #14 gets a look at the goal, he can score from distance. I have not seen any other of the final 4 teams play, but we did play Tampa Prep early in the regular season. We lost to tampa prep 3-2 and we went to pks with American Heritage...I think any of the teams are capable, it will be a matter of who shows up to play. It ought to be an interesting final 4
